Mengungkapkan kegiatan yang terjadi di waktu lampau.

1.       VERBAL : Kalimat yang mengandung kata kerja

a.       Making Question with yes/ no answer:

Formula / Pattern :

·         Did + You + V1..................?

·         Did + They + V1................?

·         Did + We + V1...................?

·         Did + I + V1 ......................?

·         Did + He + V1.................?

·         Did + She + V1................?

·         Did + it + V1...................?

Cara menjawab:

·         Short answer : Yes,  S + did / No, S + didn’t

·         Long answer  : Yes, S + V2 / No, S + didn’t  + V1

Example :

·         Did you take abath this morning?

Ø  Yes, I did

Ø  Yes, I took a bath this morning

·         Did they go to Bali last semester holiday?

Ø  No, they didn’t

Ø  No, they didn’t go to Bali last semester holiday.

·         Did we meet Mr. Bima last night?

Ø  Yes, we did

Ø  Yes, we met Mr. Bima last night

b.      Making Question using WH Question (Kata Tanya)

Formula / Pattern

WH-Question + Did + Subject + V1..................?

Example :

·         Where did you go at 7 a.m yesterday morning?

·         How many peole did you meey at the party last night?

·         When did you see Agus?

·         Why did you drink ice in last morning?

Khusus kata tanya Who yang menanyakan Subyek (Pelaku) rumusnya berbeda :

WH-Questions + V2 ...........................?

Example

·         Who saw you this morning?

·         Who fell in love with Cinderella?

·         Who came to school late yesterday ?

2.       NOMINAL : Kalimat yang tidak mengandung kata kerja, berupa ANA (Adjective : kata sifat, Noun : Kata benda, Adverb : kata keterangan)

a.       Making Question with yes/ no answer:

Formula / Pattern 1: Jika subyeknya  You, They, We:

Were + S  + ANA (Adjective/ Noun/ Adverb)?

Cara jawab:

1.       Short answer : Yes, S + were

2.       Long answer : Yes, S + were + ANA........

Example :

·         Were you sad last night?

Ø  Yes, I was

Ø  Yes, I was sad last night

·         Were they at class this morning?

Ø  No, they were not

Ø  No, they were not in the class this morning

·         Were we very happy last year?

Ø  Yes, we were

Ø  Yes, we were happy last year

·         Were you a teacher 3 years ago?
